About Thomas Detert
Hi, I’m Tom Detert — photographer, podcaster, storyteller, holistic life coach, and seeker of life’s deeper meaning.
For years, I lived a fast-paced professional life that looked successful from the outside — but inside, I was burning out. Somewhere along the way, I began to lose touch with who I really was and what truly mattered.
So I hit pause. I left behind the noise of the city and chose a quieter, more intentional life in rural Northern Ontario. Today, I live on a peaceful stretch of land surrounded by trees and water, where I spend my time capturing landscapes, recording reflections by the fire, and sharing moments of raw honesty through my camera, my microphone, and my own lived experience.
Tom’s View is more than a portfolio — it’s a window into a life rebuilt from the inside out.
Through photography, I slow down and notice the beauty most people rush past.
Through the “Out Here” podcast, I speak openly about life after 50 — the solitude, the struggle, the freedom.
Through my YouTube channel, I document the simple, meaningful rhythms of country living and what it really looks like to start over.
If you’re someone who’s felt stuck, burned out, or lost in the noise — I hope my work reminds you that it’s never too late to choose a different path. One with more presence. More truth. More freedom.
Thanks for stopping by.
Let’s stay connected.
